Here's this year's DuckCam video from the North nestbox. As if watching two cameras at once wasn't hard enough, this time I've added a third camera view, taken from our house looking across the yard to the nestbox. These ducklings were on a mission! No hesitation among these little guys!

Here is this year's DuckCam video from my south nest box. On the left is video from a ceiling cam inside the nest box, and on the right is video from a celling cam just outside the nestbox hole. As you may or may not know, those wood ducklings are only about 24 hours old! Stay tuned for video from my north nest box. Turns out the ducklings from both houses jumped on the same day (June 21, 2015)!

Thank you I'm 87 and I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying watching all the different little ducklings being hatched tonight. I've encouraged them, mourned over them until I've stayed up past my bedtime, like a tee`ager . Itwas worth it all

The ducklings jumped yesterday. All 12. And when we turned the camera off, this happened. We think we can get it back up. At any rate, John plans to edit the video into a shorter version, which will then be posted.
@@khatlestad Thanks very much Kay- I was awake and saw it as I stayed up all night to make sure I didn't miss it. The last two ducklings had some trouble but thankfully finally found the right wall to climb! However my roommate missed it but I assured him he could still view it and I have been checking day and night. I appreciate your time and efforts bringing us this wonderful view into nature. Well in all reality I would like to know who put these ducks in the box because if predators were to come those chicks would have already been dinner there struggling to much to get in and out not a easy setup
Hi, on these live cams, the homes are provided but residency is at will. It is instinct for these wood ducks to nest far up off the ground and interestingly, they do so where there is soft cover on the ground for the kids to take the plunge when Mom calls to them.
Their little feet stick to the side. They kept hesitating to jump and blocked the exit. Lol ... their are always one duckling that struggles. This time it was 4. 😭 Glad mama duck waited.

Terrible nest box design, do you not see the trouble she was having trying to get out? A better box would have let her out sooner with less stress on both of them. Thumbs DOWN fixit!

Yes, I used Skil-saw cuts on my houses too. That's why the ducklings can climb easily up the inside front face, but can't get any traction on the sides or back.
I put saw cuts up the inside of the box about an 1/8th deep to assist them with climbing out. Some people staple plastic mesh but I find it gets ripped off. Great video btw
